Sit down, take your time and look through mum or dad’s photo album with them and talk about their life before you stepped in. Choose a picture and write something about it. (You can do this also with grandma and grandpa) Look for the differences between those days and today starting from the photograph and then from the info given from your parents or grandparents. Why not check also their workbooks when they went to school.
